“Few challenges facing America — and the world – are more urgent than combating climate change,” he says in the video. “The science is beyond dispute and the facts are clear. Sea levels are rising. Coastlines are shrinking. We’ve seen record drought, spreading famine, and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season. Climate change and our dependence on foreign oil, if left unaddressed, will continue to weaken our economy and threaten our national security.
From Ryan Maue of FSU comes accumulated cyclonic energy, the best single metric of the strength of hurricane seasons:
Coming soon, Obama tells that story about this guy he knows who swears his grandmother tried to dry her cat by putting it in the microwave.
So, honestly: Are we finished? I did not realize Obama was so completely and pathetically labotomized on this issue. Are we gonna get all this shoved down out throats regardless of the lack of scientific evidence?
I thought I remembered during the campaign that he was more thoughtful on the issue. I have been pretty up-beat of late regarding progress on the truth.
I am totally bummed out now:-(
The Obamaton has spoken. I guess we can all go home and freeze in the dark.
Except him and his pals.
cfdman,
AGW is the perfect issue for an egomaniac.
The stakes, according to the belief system, are huge, like in most SF books.
Huge stakes call for heroic acts by great leaders.
Never forget: AGW is a belief system, not a body of science. It is an apocalyptic popular cult. It is faith based. The fact that there is no apocalypse even remotely happening in regards to the climate is beside the point completely. Listen to Hansen, Gore or any other of the AGW opinion leaders: It is about our wickedness and the need to either atone or be punished.
The fact that sea levels are not rising, that temperatures are not rising, that storms are not changing, that droughts are not getting worse, and that famine doe to weather is not on the increase, is all beside the point.
AGW is about sin and redemption on a vast scale.
I am glad that everything is settled. But, then, why did Cornell University today release a study that says that the models overstate the projected warming? http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/Nov08/SoilBlackCarbon.kr.html
> and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season.
OMG… it’s Weather of Mass Destruction
> and storms that are growing stronger with each passing hurricane season.
OMG… Weather of Mass Destruction
Comrade Obama honestly believes with all his heart and soul that Marxism is the way. He will use this ideology to try and sell the American people that saving a planet from a non-existent threat is the best way for humanity to progress.
Here’s how even comrade Obama has been fooled…

When I feel like I am the only one left in the world that still uses logic, deductive reasoning, and common freakin sense, I find websites like this with posts from people such as yourselves. I realize I am not alone in this world and that there are still people such as us who, while forced underground by the rest of society, actually think for themselves.

Quite amusing to see you attacking someone whose name you can’t even spell. Try getting literate before you start accusing other people of lacking intelligence.
The esteemed President-elect (quick check for signs of illiteracy and misspellings)had stated many times in his run up to his party’s nomination that his plan all along was to do just this. Never mind that the alternatives that the “Greens” demand are not economically viable, inexpensive nor efficient – unless it’s with subsidies, tax credits and taxation on a scale unparalleled in our history for poor old hydrocarbons. Checks spelling and content as I just don’t want to offend.
Revisionist climate history, and I am most tired of the phraseology that states to the effect that, “….we are faced with – insert challenge – of unprecedented danger/scope/ad nauseum”. Check, got it, and this will make his efforts, however paltry and misguided seem…hopeful? Mayeb the public will lower it’s bar and vote him in for a second term?
Socialism, which he advocates, in print and in recorded interviews, will not get us out of this economic mess, nor will it “resolve” the incredible challenge we’ve made up..er…have in front of us in combating global warming…er…climate change. God help us.
